A. Graffiti is the unauthorized writing or
drawing on any surface, building or structure. One of the most prevalent
forms of graffiti in the Okanagan is “tagging”. “Tagging” is a simple,
quick style of graffiti, involving the marking of the tagger’s initials,
symbol or alias.
Q. Why should I remove the
graffiti right away?
A. You should have your graffiti removed right
away for three main reasons:

Vernon bylaw #5010 states that
"every owner and every occupant of real property shall at all times
maintain free of graffiti any wall, fence, building or structure that is
located on such real property."

Delays in removal tend to
encourage graffiti vandals to expand the graffiti to adjacent
properties. In this way, graffiti can act as a magnet and attract more
graffiti to the area.

Q. How do you remove
graffiti?
A. Every graffiti removal project is different and requires a different
form of treatment. The removal method used depends on several factors:
the type of product used by the tagger; the surface it is on; the
temperature when it was applied, etc...

types of surfaces can you remove graffiti from?
A. We treat and remove graffiti on most
surfaces. We can remove paint, oil, grease, poster glue, and crayon from
concrete, brick, tile, marble, and terrazzo. We can also remove chewing
gum from floors.
Q. When
removing graffiti, who provides the water?
A. We use a self-contained mobile pressure
washing unit that can hold up to 300 gallons of water (about 1 to 1.5
hours of washing). If the graffiti removal project is bigger than that, we
will need to refill the tank.
